Stewarding the preservation of plants with Eleanor Kuntz of LeafWorks

Eleanor Kuntz, Ph.D., eloquently describes how medicinal plants and humans are in a mutually supportive genetic dance. Are we moving too fast with hemp and cannabis genetics trying to meet legal limits? A trained herbalist and geneticist bridging the gap between traditional herbalism and modern science, Eleanor talks to us about agriculture and evolution as an art. If understood, it will preserve the genetic pool of plant medicine and improve agricultural decisions.

Eleanor Kuntz, Ph.D., is the CEO and co-founder at LeafWorks Inc., a botanical verification company using genetics to improve medicinal quality, sustainability, and transparency in the supply chain. She is also a co-founder at Canndor, the People’s Herbarium, the first herbarium committed to documenting and preserving cannabis cultivars and varietals and the collective knowledge gained through community engagement.

Her academic work focused on population diversity and gene flow and the evolutionary history and current genetic exchange between wild and cultivated plants. She graduated from the Sage Mountain School of Herbal Studies, where she studied under Rosemary Gladstar.
